About Us

The National Peach Council is a voluntary organization comprised of growers, packers, shippers, processors, and others affiliated with the U.S. peach industry. The council was formed in 1958 to unite the industry and provide a voice at the national level for issues facing the industry.

Peaches are grown in 47 states and the National Peach Council has members from more than 30 of those states.

In 1995, The NATIONAL PEACH COUNCIL (NPC) and the California freezers formed a joint venture on behalf of U.S. peach growers. This joint venture had two objectives:

  • Enable the NPC and the freezers to work together to encourage the USDA to purchase nutritious fresh frozen freestone peaches; and
  • Enable the NPC to work with the USDA, other government agencies, and Congress on issues of vital importance to U.S. peach growers.

These objectives are still pertinent and the joint venture has enabled NPC to be a more consistent, meaningful and strong advocate in Washington for our nation’s peach growers.
